Evelyn Defina

Evelyn is a Psychologist fully registered with AHPRA, and holds a B.A (Hons) Psych, MA (Perf Studs) and a Dip Creative Arts. Evelyn has experience working with people of all ages and across a variety of areas/organisations, including developmental disabilities (children and adults) in community health, aged care in nursing homes and hospitals, psychiatric institutions (adults), eating disorders within inpatient programs, pre-diabetic/diabetic outpatient care at St Vincent’s hospital, and in the last 14 years, has worked as a School Counsellor/Psychologist within a primary school setting. Her career has spanned over 30 years. Working with children, teens and families, she is able to provide psycho-education and treatment within a variety of areas including emotional regulation, behavioural issues, ADHD, ASD, Anxiety and Selective Mutism. Evelyn uses evidence-based methodologies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). She also uses other therapeutic strategies to complement these frameworks in order to provide a tailored approach to address the needs of the individual person. She’s a local and has been all her life. She is married with 2 children, now young adults. She enjoys the life Maroubra has to offer with the beach, cafes and going for walks with her pooch, Coco.
