Telephone Consultations – Update
From 1st January 2022, Telehealth Consultations will no longer be routinely bulk-billed for all patients.
As of August 28th 2022 Birkenhead Medical Centre will charging a reduced fee for Medicare Patients with a Centerlink Health Care or Pension Card, or children under 16 for Telehealth, provided they have attended the clinic for a Face-to-Face Appointment in the last 12 months. Or if you qualify due to being Covid positive.
A Private Fee will apply for all other telehealth consultations. After the Medicare Rebate, patients will be out of pocket $56-$131depending on the appointment length.
Payment will be collected prior to the consultation, via a secure payment request we send from Hotdoc, or over the phone. Medicare rebates will be processed online for you.
Children & Concession Card Holders
From August 28th 2022 children and new patients with valid concession card, a discounted fee will be applicable for all the consultations.

If you are unable to attend for a scheduled appointment, please contact us to cancel or change your appointment time. A fee will be charged for failure to attend or cancellation with less than 2 hours notice. (Please note: this fee is not Medicare rebatable).
All procedures will incur a private fee including Women’s Health Check (Pap Smear), Implanon Insertion/Removal, Skin Checks and Skin Resections.
Pre-employment medical assessments and other medical assessments are also privately billed.
Any consultations requiring additional services may be charged a procedural equipment fee of between $10 – $50.
Travel vaccines will incur a private fee also for the purchase of the vaccine as they are not covered by Medicare.
Your doctor will explain any additional costs to you and obtain your consent prior to any treatment received.
